Roskilde Festival volunteer roles

The Volt team is made up of many different and meaningful roles. It takes a lot of different people to run our many stands spread across Roskilde Festival – so there's a good chance you'll find exactly what you love to do.

Volt Stand

Our stands are the heart of Roskilde Festival – where we create great vibes and deliver fantastic service. Here you can swap Volt Chargers, Soundboks batteries, secure items in lockers and cool beer in Cool Lockers. It's also where most volunteer spots are, so you can easily become a key part of the festival and help everyone enjoy the music without any worries!

Build Team

Are you hands-on? Our build team is responsible for preparing the festival – packing containers, repairs, setting up stands, and much more. Experience with practical work and willingness to lift heavy things is a plus. Shifts are before the festival.

PowerStarter

Join Volt's mobile sales unit! Walk around the festival and camping areas, sell our popular Volt services and meet happy guests. You need to love talking to people and be comfortable with outgoing sales. Experience the festival atmosphere up close while creating value for our customers!

Break Team

After the festival we're looking for amazing volunteers to help with pack-down. Your job: take down stands, count equipment, clean up and empty containers. It's physically demanding outdoor work in all kinds of weather – but you'll be part of a strong team where teamwork is everything.

Production

As part of the production team you play a central role in logistics. If a sign falls down or snacks run out at a stand, the team takes action. The team drives around in cars, so most should have a driving licence. Practical and comfortable lifting things is a bonus.

Team Leader / Area Manager

Ready for more responsibility? As a Team Leader or Area Manager you make sure our stands run smoothly and the good vibes spread from volunteers to customers. Team Leaders run one stand; Area Managers coordinate several stands across an area.

Quick answers to the most important questions

Do you have a question? We've (maybe) already got the answer! Check out the most frequently asked questions here – and if you're still in doubt, drop us a line. We're happy to help.

Go to volunteer.getvolt.dk and create a profile. Once you've created your profile, a pop-up will appear with a 'Waitlist'. It's important that you accept this by clicking 'confirm' in the bottom right corner.

If you're signing up with friends: you each need to create your own individual profile as they are personal. It's a good idea to do it at the same time so you end up next to each other on the waitlist – this increases your chances of getting shifts together. Accepting the waitlist is an essential step, as we won't receive your application otherwise.

When? Booking opens no later than 3 weeks before the festival. Once the full music programme is published, you'll receive an email where you can select your shifts. You'll get a heads-up by email at least 24 hours before we open shift booking so you can be ready. Booking is first come, first served.

How? A package solution you choose yourself on volunteer.getvolt.dk. All shifts are divided into shift packages. You choose from available packages. You cannot swap shifts. You can book the same shift package and location as your friend so you can work together. If you're more than 3 friends, we recommend splitting into groups and choosing the same package in different locations – that way you work and have free time at the same time.

The deposit is our guarantee that you'll show up for your shifts. It is refunded after the festival if you attended all your shifts. You can cancel and get your deposit back up to one month before the festival. Cancellations must be sent to volunteer@getvolt.dk.

You get access to your wristband through Roskilde Festival's volunteer portal, People Vol. Once we have access to People Vol, you'll receive an email with instructions on how to register and collect your wristband.

The little things – important details

Volunteering at Volt is not like anywhere else. We keep people connected and enhance the festival experience by offering festival services that eliminate worries about running out of power and warm drinks. Volt is a community of festival lovers – and many come back to Volt year after year to share the festival feeling, create memories and reunite with festival friends from all over the country.

Volt has many different volunteer roles – most of them are at our stands. You can read more about the different roles above. You choose your own role at shift booking – note that it runs on a first come, first served basis.

At Roskilde Festival you have 4 shifts of 8 hours (3 shifts of 8 hours if all during the music days), spread across warm-up and music days. We create shift packages evenly distributed between morning, day and night shifts so no one is stuck on nights only.

We're looking for people who match the following: you have a positive attitude and always smile. After a night out, you're always the first one up – annoyingly never seeming hungover, or at least knowing how to ignore it. You're always 5 minutes early. If anyone ever needs help, you're always ready to give a hand.

We also hope that you love the festival atmosphere and want to share it with us and all our customers. If you've been to a festival before, that's definitely a plus – but if not, don't worry. We'll teach you the ins and outs of festival life and look after you!

You'll join a fantastic community of like-minded people who love festivals. Many volunteers come back year after year and grow into team leaders and area managers. On top of that you get:

  • A festival wristband with full access to the entire festival
  • A Volt power bank and free charging service during the festival (and yes, you keep the power bank after the festival)
  • Free snacks and drinks on your shift
  • Access to Volunteer Village (cheap drinks and chilled-out areas)
  • Option to book a spot on the festival's volunteer camping area
  • Access to Volt HQ – snacks, private events and fun with your Volt friends

Other questions – everything else you want to know

Yes. You need to bring your own tent, sleeping mat, and similar gear.

For your shift, you'll be given a Volt t-shirt and cap/bucket hat to wear. For everything else, find inspiration in packing lists online – pack for a festival!

Dear parents. In recent years we've received many questions from parents who are perhaps sending their child off to their very first festival. Here are answers to the most common questions.

Accommodation: Most people sleep in tents they bring themselves. At Roskilde there is a volunteer camp which tends to be quieter at night. It's up to the volunteer whether they want to stay there or with the other guests.

Working hours: Volunteers at Roskilde have 4 shifts of 8 hours. We follow all rules on rest periods, and volunteers under 18 may not work between midnight and 6am.

Information: All volunteers have a profile at volunteer.getvolt.dk where we continuously post updates. Shift packages are also booked there.

Supervision: We don't supervise volunteers when they're off shift. If anyone needs help they can always call our volunteer phone line. In all camping areas there are wardens and social workers in vests who can help if needed.

Medical help: There are always skilled first aiders ready to help. Emergency contact details are collected during registration, and we will call you if something happens.
